This week's Chronicle carries a story on Audlem St James' school under the headline: 'Decision looms for suspended head.'

The report says that the fate of suspended headteacher Catherine Nolan-Burnitt is due to be decided next month. The head is still on leave after complaints from parents about the quality of assessments and teaching.

The Chronicle says that Audlem village was divided when Mrs Nolan-Burnitt was suspended in early February. Some parents were unhappy with their children's performance in school while others rallied around in support of the head.

Audlem Online contacted the chairman of the school's governors, Peter Ellis, who said: "An open meeting was held in the school on Monday 12th April to update parents on progress made since the recent review of Teaching and Learning.

"Thirty three parents attended when the acting headteacher presented parents with a detailed progress report on the implementation of the recommendations included in the review. Parents were informed that a further review to measure progress will be undertaken by an independent inspector during May.

"The Chairman confirmed that the review of the headteacher's position is still subject to an internal Local Authority review and that no decision is expected before mid May."
