ASC Saints U11s football team had a tricky looking fixture versus Red Dot FC on Sunday.

The Sandbach team are always a difficult side to break down and are always vociferously supported! In the event though, Saints put in a very clinical performance to run out 4-1 winners.

Coaching an under 11s football team is always great fun but, on Sunday, the experience was one of absolute joy. The young boys played football how it should be played – passing the ball with ease and patience to create good opportunities.

The opening goal was from a well worked corner headed into the roof of the net, the second a result of three quick, simple but devastating passes which took the ball from right back position to a tap in by the left winger.

Red Dot briefly threatened to get back into it with a scrambled goal but Saints quickly re-asserted with a goal just before half time. The fourth was added in the second half and even a late penalty awarded to Red Dot couldn't spoil the day as the Saints 'keeper dived low to his left to save brilliantly.

An excellent result and a vital one as both of Saints' Championship rivals won their games too. So with , two games left to play any one of three teams can win the league – testament to the competitive nature of the South Cheshire Youth League.

Saints have no game next weekend but then a busy week will see them play the last two league fixtures on May 9th & 16th with the Cup Final (10th) in between.
