Rachel Bailey received the following from Cheshire East Highways when she enquired, on behalf of several residents, about the traffic lights which have appeared on Green Lane.

"Temporary traffic lights were placed out on Green Lane following the collapse due to the site being classed as unsafe during an out of hours call out.

"Our drainage team have assessed the site and the extent of the damage and requested an ecology survey prior to de-vegetation work to be carried out, this will help expose the full area to see the extent of the works required. It is anticipated that this should take place week commencing the 12th October 2022.

"The council will need an Environment Agency permit in order to work next to the water course due to it being classified as main river. Talks have already taken place with the EA who will not grant the permit until a satisfactory ecology report has been submitted.

"Our structures team are also investigating the cause and repair of the embankment slippage and the two teams will work closely together to provide a solution as quickly as possible.

"I have requested an update from both teams once the investigations are completed and we will of course keep you informed of any progress.

"At this moment in time it is difficult to predict a timeline for this work until the EA license is issued and a suitable design for the repair work is approved."
