When it comes to the village Raft Race Audlem residents were pretty much decided that it should be brought back despite safety concerns. However last month's poll 'Should cheaper housing be built in the village?' has uncovered a split in village opinion.

In our poll a significant number of villagers, (38%) were not convinced that cheaper housing would be beneficial to Audlem. Comments received by Audlem.org suggest that villagers are well aware of the perils of preventing young families moving into the village, but are determined to maintain the village's character and quality of life for residents.

It seems that getting the balance right will be essential for the continued vibrancy of our village. If we allow it to move too quickly in either direction we could be in trouble, either by ruining the character and charm of Audlem, or turning it into a dormant suburb where only the wealthy can afford to live.

The results of this poll have been passed to the Parish Council for discussion.

This month's poll focuses on the recent national debate regarding smoking in public places. Do you think that all public places in Audlem should be smoke free, or do you believe that people have the right to light up in certain public places? ... vote now! – - >
