Reporting Footpath Problems

Peaks and Northern Footpaths Society is the charity that awarded a significant grant to Turnpike Field for the improvements to the footpath from Green Lane.

In the North Midlands and North West of England they monitor, protect, and improve the footpath network for the benefit of all.

This works by them having volunteer footpath inspectors who monitor the condition of public footpaths in a certain area -- for example Chris and I monitor the paths around Audlem.

They also have an easy to use mobile phone app that can be used by anyone to report footpath problems.

There is no need to register to use the app and it's free of charge. You can report any problem within the PNFS area. When you submit a fault via the app an email is sent to PNFS with an automatically generated grid reference and they will then investigate the fault further by passing it onto the nearest local PNFS footpath inspector.

Every time that we've reported problems to the CE Footpaths Officer, they have then checked themselves and initiated any appropriate repairs.

More info on the Path Checker app can be found on the PNFS website
