Redevelopment of Crewe's Cumberland Arena is under way
The redevelopment of a premier sports venue in Crewe is well under way.
The Cumberland Arena, which already plays host to seven-a-side and 11-a-side football teams on its 3G artificial pitch, will be getting a significant upgrade thanks to funding from the Towns Fund.
The project will see a number of improvements to the Cumberland Arena sports facilities. Part of the existing arena building will be demolished and a new two-storey extension built to provide a reception area.
Three new multi-functional studio spaces will be built for classes and targeted health programmes. There will also be significantly improved facilities for spectators, including covered seating.
Extra car parking will be created and a new electricity sub-station, new storage compound and electric vehicle charging points provided. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will also be improved – with a new pedestrian entrance and bike shelters included in the works.
The redevelopment works at Cumberland Arena are due to complete in spring 2026.
