This week we, the Audlem Music & Arts Festival team for this now major event here in Audlem, have met and carried out our de-brief on all matters of the long weekend.

It was universally agreed that the Festival of 2013 was the best ever. Blessed by excellent weather, we presented close on 80 different performances, ranging from solo acoustic guitars players and singers right up to big band sounds and choral concerts.

The village was crammed as everybody enjoyed to the full the biggest free such festival in Cheshire.

This year we gave much greater prominence to the Arts Exhibition under the guidance of ex-Arts teacher, Christine Johnson and of Liz Haughey. Together they put on a great show with massive attendance to see such superb works of art as the very remarkable Last Supper – a 3D representation created solely out of masking tape.

Much discussion was had on any poor aspects of our efforts in order to be better next year:

  • More emphasis on the Arts
  • Bigger exhibits planned.
  • New bands planned – we did have over 180 such seeking a spot this year!
  • More and new performances by young children in choirs and in music.

All in all a huge success – all done by a very small group of seven men and two women, all volunteers giving many, many hours and who care for the wonderful community that is Audlem.

Next year's dates are 22nd to 26th May.
