Audlem Ramblers Saturday walk was an 8 mile anti-clockwise stroll starting and finishing
at the National Trust car park in Carding Mill Valley near Church Stretton (about a 50 minute drive).
This car park was busy on our arrival at about 0930 and absolutely packed on our return at about 1430.
The 9 person team was reliably informed that the Red Arrows had been booked for us for a "fly over" at about 1115 – when we would be on the Long Mynd Plateau. Unfortunately we missed this show – probably because the Air Display at Rhyl had to be cancelled.
The plateau was pleasantly busy with cyclists and walkers. There were 2 events taking place – the more grueling event was the 36 mile hike covering 5 peaks including Stiperstones, Pole Bank (trig point on the Long Mynd), Caer Caradoc, and 2 others the author failed to note!
Asking 2 ladies who were clocked-in at the trig point what time they had started, the answer was 0700, and when asked expected finish time the response was a curt "today!".
Just past the trig point was a small pond teeming with tadpoles – something this author has not seem for some considerable time – used to be a regular "spot" on similar walks.
A thoroughly pleasant walk reconnoitred and led by Wendy and Susi.
