Ralph Warburton has been informed by the Cabinet Office that he is to be awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2018 Birthday Honours List today.
Our congratulations go to Ralph for this very deserving award and the major contribution he has made to Audlem community life and local charities.
Ralph hails from Liverpool, but moved to Atherton during the war to avoid the constant bombing that that city suffered. He returned after the war, but following call up joined the Fleet Air Arm serving on the aircraft carrier HMS Albion. Following his time in service he joined Littlewoods eventually becoming a Board Director
He moved to Audlem / Buerton in 1987 with his wife Joan, who sadly lost her life following a tragic accident in 2000.
Ralph has been a driving force in all aspects of Audlem Village life, with ASET, ADAS, Music & Arts Festival, Football, Cemetery, Buerton Primary School, Santa Claus, Quiz nights, Charity Shop and much, much more.
Ralph claims to be very lucky to have found Audlem & Buerton and will out his days here. Audlem has been fortunate to have Ralph who has contributed so much.
