More than 100 people packed the Scout and Guide Hall on Thursday night for an entertaining talk on Audlem's long-lost railway station.

Speaker, Jeremy Nicholls, has made a detailed study of the station and the railway line after salvaging many old ledgers and documents before the station was demolished.

Jeremy's talk and slide show, marked the 150 years since the Nantwich to Market Drayton line opened and the 50 years since it closed with facts and reminiscences on its 100-year history.

Audlem History Society members were busy bringing out as many chairs as they could find as visitors packed in for a lively talk and discussion which brought back many memories from older members of the audience.

Jeremy ended his talk with an appeal for any missing ledgers that may have been loaned out in the past as he is very keen to trace as much information and memorabilia about the railway line as he can,

Anyone with information, photographs or documents relating to the Audlem line can contact Audlem History Society which has already uploaded many items relating to the line on to the Audlem Historical Archive.

A useful book 'By Great Western to Crewe' is available at Audlem Mill, along with several other books on nearby railway routes or you can order the book from the website here.
