The project to rebuild the front walls, steps and forecourt of the Public Hall has been completed.

This work was started almost a year ago with a generous grant of nearly £15,000 from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd), with match funding of £1,500 from the Parish Council.

The project required the complete demolition and rebuilding of the front wall of the forecourt, the replacement of the old stone steps and the laying of non-slip concrete on the flat areas in the forecourt.

Needless to say it was impossible to find an exact match for the original bricks (and in any case close inspection of the walls of the Public Hall shows that at least four slightly different types of brick have been used at various times in its chequered career), but we have found what we think is a reasonable compromise and we have managed to re-use the coping stones from the original wall.

It would still be nice to have our balls back!
