Last year I did briefly try to "campaign" for help with post 16 school transport costs but after getting the run around and experiencing much dodging of questions from Councillor Bailey, Stephen O'Brien MP, Edward Timpson MP and Cheshire East Council I lost heart and stumped up the cost.
In summary, central government have left the decision to local government; local government say they can't afford it and the schools can help if they wish to. Brine Leas school provide a bursary...but it's means tested.
Thus the cost has been passed from Westminster to Cheshire East to Brine Leas to the students...and so on to Parents!
Mr O'Brien's written response can only be described as sarcastic, judgemental and rude...but that's another story!
The only helpful advice I can give is that I found the cheapest solution to be a student pass provided by D&G coaches for the bus that leaves from Emberton Place. The Pass is only valid Monday to Friday and in term time but is £360 per year, the cheapest that I found.
