WILD FLOWERS
On a very pleasant walk
Along the canal side, yesterday
I noticed the beauty of-
What we call weeds.
Not weeds, they are wild flowers!
Beauty abounding, beauty all their own.
Masses and masses. All varieties,
Scattered-,higgledy piggledy,-
Some entwined with others
Swaying in the breeze
Almost dancing.
The colours, -superb, -a rainbow
Red, yellow, blue, pink, white.
Thistles too. Bearing their fluffy seeds
Almost ready to set them free.
Memories, memories, evoked
Memories of the blitz
Yes, there they were -
The "Bomb Site Flowers"
A sad sight then
But no more.
Now, merrily adding to the vibrant picture
Of wild nature.
Alongside the Audlem Canal.
