We have received this report on the work done on the Playing Field by Cheshire East via Ralph Warburton
Hi all, Hopefully you can see the pictures I've attached. Progress so far on the Audlem playing field as follows:
Uprights removed from site and cross bars put in long grass waiting to be chained or secured to the fencing at the cemetery end, both goal mouths rotovated down to 6-12inches, seeded, gone over with the shockwave to firm slightly and level then raked to a nice tilth. The entire pitch has also been shockwaved by James Sale.
The goalmouths are still very shallow compared to the rest of the pitch and need a considerable amount of topping up as the soil will settle again and become like a bowl. The soil that I was rotovating today was a very silty clay loam, I think this has been a cause as to why grass won't grow there. Water couldn't penetrate the surface as it had become one hard layer and the grass has just died.
In my opinion I think you could use 100% sports sand such as here
