I visited a lady in Crewe yesterday who remembers visiting her grandmother Ethel nee Buckley (married names first Leigh then Haslam) who lived on the green and her great grandmother Elizabeth Buckley. The picture here is of Ethel Haslam and her mother, Elizabeth Buckley who lived at 5 Cheshire St  for some years and was well over 90 when she died.

Two other pictures have been put into the "History – People" gallery:-

The first shows one of Ethel's son, Harry Leigh, pictured on the church steps – does anyone know the other two lads? The second shows Harry holding the banner on the left. The History Society had this picture but without names or dates. Harry was born in 1912 so if he was 18 the picture must have been taken in about 1930.

Harry had a brother Edward who wanted the History Society to have his Welcome Home Certificate from WW2 when he died a few years ago – he was Monty's driver in the war.  They had a sister May and step sisters Gladys, Ethel and Ivy (now in Queensland Australia) and step brother Walter.

If anyone remembers these people or has stories to tell perhaps they would contact me on 811260 or through chatbox.
