PC to support Mill Lane Residents

At the Parish Council meeting on Monday evening, a spokesman for the Residents' Association formed to fight the planning application for development in the Mill Lane/Heathfield Road area spoke during the public forum.

He said that, because of the short time allowed for response to the plan by Cheshire East (most of it coinciding with the Christmas period), the Residents' Association had decided to go ahead with commissioning a traffic and road safety audit in the Heathfield Road area. This will cost at least £650, probably about £750 but not more than £1000 and the Association members had agreed to meet the costs of the audit if necessary.

So far the indications are that when the report is produced it will highlight the various traffic problems around the proposed development, and indeed may well extend further to include other areas of the village such as Stafford Street and the Square. Apparently the consultant has met the Cheshire East highways officer in the course of the investigation.

The Parish Council were asked to consider contributing substantially towards the costs of the safety audit on the grounds that it was in the overall interests of the village as well as the particular circumstances of the proposed development.

When the item came up for discussion, the Parish Council decided, after some debate, to support the request for funding the survey up to a maximum of £1000, with the proviso that the credentials of the people carrying out the survey were checked and found to be sufficient.
