The Palace Garden Party

Following on from the award given to me in the Queens birthday honours list last year, I received an invite to the first Royal Garden Party of this season.

As my guests I took my two elder granddaughters, Willow and Honesty, who both live in London now as that is where they study and work. My son, Jonathan, father to the girls, dropped us off at the main gates. We walked in presenting our passport as evidence of who we were, plus our invite card. It was a superb sunny and warm day, and we were all in awe of the gardens. I had not realised it was so large and it was immaculate in every way. Special little snacks served, all with soft drinks or teas and coffees.

A veritable range of hats of all types on the ladies. Honesty's big blue one was made, as were their outfits, by their mother Julie, who is a maker of haute couture. Willows was by a company named the Mad Hatter, and designed it as a tribute to the suffragettes. I was a very proud and a very lucky man to be there with them on such a unique day.

The day over and At 1800 hours we all trooped out through the State Rooms and into the Mall. Where I had my first ride in an Uber car! Taxis being ad rare as hens teeth.
