Overwater Charity Events

It was a busy bank holiday at Overwater Marina this year as it played host to a range of local charity events.

On the Friday, moorers, locals and guests gathered in the canal-side marquee for a charity quiz and hog roast. As well as tackling a range of tricky quiz rounds, quizzers generous donated to a raffle and a wide-ranging promise auction — lots included a 3-night stay in one of the 2-bedroom lodges at Overwater Marina and a 2-night stay in one of their luxury glamping wagons, a gin tasting trip to the local, and very popular, Three Wrens Gin distillery, and a meal for 2 at the Shroppie Fly, Audlem. Other gifts were generously donated by The Combermere Abbey, The Audlem Lass and many others.

A great night was had by all and a total of £3144.65 was raised for the Audlem Lass, supporting the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institute), and Overwater Wheelyboat Services.

On Saturday, Overwater supported the Audlem Music and Arts Festival by hosting Music at the Marina, with local bands keeping the crowds entertained throughout the day and evening, while volunteers and Caf at Bridge 80 worked tirelessly to keep them served with food and drink. The event runs to provide interest and seek funding for the very popular Audlem Music and Arts Festival that takes place in Audlem each May.

On Sunday night, the Audlem Festival team hosted their first Comedy Night, which proved to be an enormous success. Comedians Dave Twentyman, Chris Washington, Catherine Young and Britain's Got Talent finalist, Steve Royle kept the crowd laughing throughout the evening.
