Visitors come to Audlem from far and wide. One of the more unusual has been an Orinoco Goose seen over the past week hunkering down with the resident Greylag and Canada Geese by the River Weaver.

A strikingly different looking bird with pale head, neck and front, black wings, and tan back with red legs and feet, it originates from the rain forests of South America. The individual with us is probably an 'escapee' from an ornamental lake somewhere.

This is the second unusual avian visitor to this same area this year, with a Bar-headed Goose visiting in the New Year. There must be something particularly attractive to visitors about Audlem. Then we knew that anyway!
