A year ago, discussions took place about the possibility of helping local small businesses – existing and new start-ups – by having premises in the village which could be used as an 'office hub'.

Ideally, it would be a central location with desk space, WiFi facilities and possibly other office equipment. Just as importantly, it would be a place where home-workers and those running their own business could meet, share ideas and where occasional talks or business mentoring sessions could be held.

As many will know, the building work in the yard next to Oxtail & Trotter in Cheshire Street is in progress and the flats and other retail units are due to be finished in June.

Kate and Hugh Pocock are considering taking up this idea and using the second largest of the units to create such an office hub that can be used by homeworkers in Audlem. When the development is finished, it will be an exciting and vibrant place to live and work, with a cafe in the courtyard and a selection of smaller shops – it will make a great working environment.

It will be a room with 6-7 desks, all with access to a printer and WiFi and use of a small meeting room. Users could pay a monthly fee for unlimited use of a desk or it could operate as a pay-as-you-go system.

Before committing to such an idea, Kate and Hugh would like assess if there is any demand for an office hub. What do you think. Would it be useful and would you use it. Please let AudlemOnline know or, indeed, speak to Kate and Hugh at Oxtail & Trotter or by email to info@oxtailandtrotter.com

There are also one or two units still available for let, so if anyone is interested please contact them.
