With mounting concern about the amount of fake news in today's social media, AudlemOnline has signed a pledge that, from tomorrow, no fake news will make it past the eagle-eyed editorial team on to this website. The pledge will be renewed this time next year and subsequently annually.

While fake news was once the preserve of ludicrous publications such as the Daily Sport – 'B52 bombers on the Moon' – it can now be seen most days on the front page of the Daily Express. More worryingly, social media – at least nobody reads the Daily Express anymore – has published more and more fake news, often involving celebrities, which means this is a serious issue.

At least, with the signing of the pledge, you can believe everything you read on AudlemOnline – and that's a promise.
