These are excerpts from this week's Audlem St James' school newsletter:
What a wonderful display of plants, photographs and records we have been treated to this week in school! Our hall was filled with amazing results of your hard work over the summer months and I know Mr Warburton had a difficult time choosing winners across the school. I will certainly be asking the winners for some tips for my garden next year!
Thank you to all of the families who took part in this special competition and to Mr Warburton and ADAS for organising it.
Sapphire and Pearl class braved the damp weather on Tuesday to explore
Audlem village in more detail as part of their topic this term. They visited some of the different shops and looked at different types and styles of buildings. They also learnt about the history of Audlem and identified old and new buildings.
Amber class also got a chance to bring their new topic to life with a trip to The Dewa Roman Experience in Chester on Tuesday. In the morning they enjoyed a 'Soldier Patrol' around Chester to the Roman gardens and the Amphitheatre discovering what it took to become part of a great fighting force.
In the afternoon they had a fully guided tour of the reconstructions, excavations, museum and the hands-on room. They all looked fabulous in their Roman costumes and I am glad that although the weather wasn't very Roman like, the children all had a great day.
Thank you to all of the parents who joined us for our New Classes Open Evening on Thursday. Many parents commented on how useful these sessions were as they were able to find out more about their child's new year group and expectations which will help them to support their child/ren at home.
