Super Science Week

Our special fortnight of Science themed work has been busy and exciting in school! All classes took part in a series of Powerwise workshops yesterday where they found out about electricity, safety and lots more.

Our Year 2 children have been designing their own Healthy Plates with Mrs Standley, Mrs Hayward and Mrs Gavin. They have learnt about eating a balanced and healthy diet and created some wonderful 3D plates of food to show their understanding of this important area of Science.

I had the pleasure of finding out more about the 'Weather Watching' taking place in our EYFS class at the start of the week. The children have been keen to share their weather station work with me and I have been very impressed with some of their super recording ideas!

In Key Stage 2, there have been investigations about separating solutions, lessons about how our eyes work and much more...and that is only week one! I know there is much more in store next week!

Coffee Morning

On Friday morning, Diamond Class welcomed their relatives into school to take part in
their special Literacy Coffee Morning. This was a lovely opportunity for the children to share some of their work and for parents and carers to find out more about how we teach writing skills in school.

There are Literacy Coffee Mornings scheduled across the term for each class – I look forward to welcoming more parents into school for these special learning times.

Football

Last Friday morning Mr Griffiths and a group of parents took two football teams to a tournament organised by Crewe Alexandra. Both teams did a great job and I know Mr Griffiths was very pleased with the effort and teamwork everyone showed. One team battled bravely drawing one and losing two of their matches against strong opposition.

The other team won two matches and drew one, which meant they topped their group and will go on the represent the school in the finals next Friday. Well done to everyone who took part and good luck in the final!

In what is a very busy few weeks we also send our best wishes to our girls football team who have represented our school in the Cheshire County finals today after qualifying in the Autumn term. We also have footballers in action again today in a 5-aside competition at Brine Leas this evening.

Athletics

On Monday we travel to South Cheshire College to take part in the Regional finals for the Indoor athletics. A very busy, sporting time but it is fantastic to have so many teams representing our school so well – we are all really proud of you! Thank you to all of the staff
and parents who give their time to support our teams in these events.

Staying on an active theme, Wednesday's Active Audlem before school was an energetic and fun way to start our day together! It was great to see so many children, parents, grandparents and staff participating and making an active start to the day. Hopefully the sun may even shine on us next time!

ABC Childcare

I am delighted to inform you that ABC are extending their services to include Pre School
sessions for 2 year olds. They continue to offer breakfast (8.00am – 8.45am) and after school (from end of school day to 6pm) care.

All of these sessions are held in the ABC building adjacent to school. For more information about any of these services, please contact Lynsey on 01270 669050.

FASA

The next FASA meeting will be on Tuesday 4th February at 2pm in our school hall. The team will be putting together final plans for the Valentines Disco on Friday 14th February at this meeting. Please come along to support this if you can.

A reminder that the Spring Disco timings are – Key Stage one 5pm – 6pm and KS2 6.15pm – 7.30pm. Admission will be £2.00. We will look forward to seeing everyone celebrate the end of half term there!

Thank you to all of you who have been donating items to our Rag Bag bin outside school. This is another way FASA help to raise funds for school projects. Please make sure all items donated are put into bags before placing them into the bin. Thank you.

Mid Day Assistant Vacancy

We said farewell to Mrs Jewell on Friday as she left her role as Mid Day to take up a new position. We would like to add a new Mid Day Assistant to our team in school. If you are interested and would like to find out more please contact me either by email or via the School Office.

Parent Teacher Meetings

A reminder that our Parent/Teacher Meetings are scheduled to take place in the final week of this half term. Please return your slip to your child's class teacher as soon as you can so that all of the appointments can be made. Thank you.

Finally

Many thanks to those parents who attended our Parent Forum on Tuesday. We covered a range of areas and the discussions we had were very useful in identifying ways in which we can continue to work together to make our school even better.

The minutes of the meeting will be sent out to all families next week – please look out for them. I am always keen to hear feedback about your views on school's strengths and any areas your feel we could improve further. Please contact me directly if you have any feedback on this. Thank you.
