New video features Audlem

John H. Brough writes: "I, and a couple of colleagues (all amateurs), have just produced a video about curiosities in South Cheshire. Included in it are the Butter Market, the Bear Stone, and the four "levels" of Audlem Parish Church.

"Copies of the DVD called Curious South Cheshire are available from Williams' Newsagents in Audlem. This video takes a look at some of the more unusual items to be found in various towns and villages in South Cheshire.

These include: A third castle on the Cheshire Plain; a summerhouse that was built as a ruin; the place of worship with 10 Green Men and 12 church mice; a house covered with images of people who "wronged" a local man; the grave of a cricketer who played in the first "Ashes"; and a water bowl for canine rail travellers.

"The video features curiosities in Acton, Audlem, Barthomley, Bickley, Bunbury, Cholmondeley, Crewe Green, Hargrave, Marbury, Mow Cop (with Rode Hall), Nantwich, Peckforton, Sandbach, Shocklach, Stapeley, Wrenbury and Wybunbury. Also Crewe Station and the Old Coach Road.

"It costs £7.25 and runs for approximately 50 minutes. It is in colour; 4:3 ratio; and PAL format. I am looking at the possibility of producing DVDs in NTSC format. At the moment, "Curious South Cheshire" is not produced in a VHS tape."
