The new-style Audlem Online will be launched this week with most readers able to access the new-look on Friday 1st May. We say 'most' because various servers used by our readers around the world can take anything from seconds to up to 48 hours to access a 'new' website. We hope, however, that any disruption will be minimal for the vast majority.

There's a host of new features arriving including an inter-active map showing all the streets, retail businesses and pubs, places of interest in the village; photo galleries, including historic photos of the village; and a three day local weather forecast – now is that brave or simply foolhardy?

There'll be an expanded news section which will show more extensive lists of current news headlines and it will also be much easier to search for older news going right back to Audlem Online's launch almost four years ago. Pictures will be used to illustrate as many news stories as possible making the news pages brighter and, hopefully, more readable. Every effort will continue to find interesting local news every day of the year.

To lighten proceedings, and to remind local readers just how lucky they are to live in the Audlem area, 'Strange but True' stories from around the world will be found illustrating the odd, mysterious and occasionally challenging world that lies beyond our south Cheshire idyll.

Exclusive to Audlem Online, there will be a puzzles section which comprises three versions of the familiar Sudoku puzzle. These are changed daily, generated by computer program. There's no need to have a pen handy as the games are played on screen.

Crucially, finding information on the new site will be much easier. More tomorrow on the new features – all coming on Friday this week in the new Audlem Online.
