The news of the launch of a new fund to provide loans and equity to social enterprises has been welcomed by Cheshire Community Action, a local community development charity.

The fund will invest between £250,000 and £1m in community-led social enterprises that provide essential local services, develop the local economy and bring a positive social change for individuals in the community.

John Heselwood, Policy Manager said: "The fund will be a vital resource to many of the charities and social enterprises we support. Often social enterprises can struggle to identify finance despite having robust business plans in place.

"At Cheshire Community Action we are increasingly supporting projects whose ambitious business plans require a greater degree of finance, including Community Land Trusts which are community-led organisations that provide community housing, workspaces, pubs and shops for local people.

"These organisations need to able to access finance to help get their projects off the ground and ultimately boost the local economy."
