New Chief Fire Cadet role announced
Cheshire Fire Cadets celebrated a year of success and the creation of a new Chief Fire Cadet and Deputy Chief this weekend.
Cadets from across the county and parents attended what was the second celebration event at Mid Cheshire College and witnessed the promotion of two of the recruits.
Cai Burt from Middlewich Unit was honoured with the title of Cheshire's first Chief Fire Cadet while Elaine Gnyp from Sandbach was promoted to Deputy Chief. Both these cadets will be given a new uniform to identify them and will attend special functions and ceremonies to represent Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and Cheshire Fire Cadets.
Other awards presented were:
Cadet of the year went to Alyx James from Crewe
Cadet Units of the Year were given to Tarporley and Chester
Cadet Citizen of the Year was Ed Davy from Holmes Chapel
During the celebration the young people took part in Cadet Olympics which Tarporley won, and the hose reel running competition was won by Widnes Fire Cadets.
Nick Evans, Youth Engagement Manager for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It was a great day and fun was had by all, especially during the games. We also got a chance to honour some of the Service's finest cadets with the creation of two very special roles and Cia and Elaine were very suprised and honoured to be chosen. They will be given special uniforms to signal their ranking and will be ambassadors for the Cadets and represent them at official events in the future."
