Special Events to Mark the End of a Busy Year!

Our Year 6 children have treated their relatives and the staff and children in school to a wonderful Leaver's Assembly this week.

They took us on a journey through their memories of their time at school and combined acting, dancing and singing skills to showcase their wonderful enthusiasm and energy. It was a delight to watch their confident performances and it was a real credit to themselves, staff and their families that they had so much to celebrate after all of their hard work this year and throughout their primary years.

We will miss them all as they move on to High School next week and I am sure they will be wonderful members of their new school community. I wish them all lots of luck, happiness and success in all they do.

The Open Morning and Evening on Tuesday was a lovely chance for children to share their work and achievements from the year with parents and carers. It was wonderful to see so many people sharing this special time together and to reflect on the progress the children have made in a wide range of curriculum areas.

Our Year 4 Singing Playground song leaders have travelled to Manchester's Bridgewater Hall yesterday, where they are participating in a gathering of song leaders from other schools in Cheshire East. They have joined together with other song leaders as a celebration of their hard work across the year. Well done to all of them.

The EYFS/KS1 and Y3 Choir shared a super showcase of their work with Mrs Shackleston this term in a special performance on Wednesday morning. It was great to watch their enthusiasm and energy as they performed a range of songs and actions which entertained us all!

There were more talents on show yesterday when children from across school shared some of their skills ranging from dance, piano playing and gymnastics to ukulele playing, singing and acting. Thank you to all of the children who contributed to this.

Roving Reporters

During this term, a team of Roving Reporters from Year 5 and 6 have been working hard with Bob Cartwright and John Tilling, from AudlemOnline, to create a school newspaper.

Their hard work has certainly paid off and they have met their deadline (which was yesterday!). I was delighted to be able to send home a copy of this special publication to all families with the weekly newsletter.

I am sure you will agree that this is a great review of the year and gives a 'child's eye view' of life in school. Many thanks to Bob and John for giving so much of their time to this project and to Mrs Heathcock for liasing and helping to set the project up.

The newspaper will also be published on AudlemOnline and our School Website and I am sure the Roving Reporters have learnt many new skills producing this. Well done to you all!

Congratulations

Congratulations to Carrie Ann George, Bertie Hardy, Mickalar Malkin, Lucy Huntbach and Millie Jay Abell who have achieved their 10k. Marleigh Matravers who successfully completed 20k and Ben Jones and Elsie May Cottrell who have completed 30k on our Active Audlem circuit this week. A great achievement, well done!

A big well done also go to all of the members of Alder team who were the winners of this term's team point collection. Children from this team will be bringing home a note today outlining their reward next week.

FASA

As you know, the FASA team have continued to support school in a range of ways this year and their dedication and great team spirit has resulted in another wonderful series of fundraising events. This fantastic record of fundraising is only possible through families continuing to support their events – many thanks to all of you who have contributed cakes, prizes, money, time and energy throughout the year.

ABC Childcare

ABC would like to thank you all for your support during their first year here at Audlem St James.

From September they will be open from 7.45a.m until 6.00p.m, Monday to Friday. Children from as young as 18 months can attend. Their holiday club in Crewe is open during the summer and any child, aged 3-11, from Audlem, is welcome. If you have an enquiry, please call Lynsey on 01270 669050. In the meantime – Happy Holidays from the ABC team!

SATs Success

Congratulations to our Year 2 and Year 6 children who have achieved super results in their recent SATs tests which, in many areas, have surpassed results achieved in recent years, especially in writing which has been a key area of our School Development Plan this year.

The results are testament to the hard work the children have put into developing their Literacy and Numeracy skills and the dedication and commitment of their teachers and support of their parents in ensuring they strive for every child to reach his / her full potential.

Hellos and Farewells

We say a sad farewell to Mrs Johnson at the end of this term as she leaves her role as a
Higher Level Teaching Assistant after 12 years working at our school. She will be sadly missed by all of the school team and we wish her lots of luck as she leaves to spend more time with her family.

We also bid farewell to Mr Walker next week who leaves school after 3 years supporting children in their learning. We wish him much luck and happiness in the future and thank both of these members of staff for the energy, enthusiasm and dedication they have brought to their roles in their time at our school.

We welcome Mrs Cordial to our team in September. She will be working alongside Mrs Richardson and Miss Danha in Key Stage 1 next term and I am sure she will be a great asset to this team in school.

I am also delighted to announce that Mrs Kay will be remaining on our EYFS team next term. She has already brought a great deal of experience and expertise to her role in school and we look forward to her continuing this as part of the EYFS team in September.

Uniform Update

School's In have confirmed that their stock of our school uniform will be ready to purchase from their Nantwich shop from August. Their contact number is 01270 629998.

Library and Reading Books

Please make sure all library and reading books are returned from home before Wednesday so that we can ensure we have all resources in school for September. Thank you for your help with this.

Sports kits

Any children who still have school sports or football kits at home please bring them back into school by Monday 21st July so we can check them all in readiness for our new school year.

Education Outreach Worker

Our NEP Education Outreach Worker, Ian Murfitt, will be available throughout the summer holidays to give help, advice and support to any of our families. Please contact him by phone on 07825 25 35 32 or via email at Ian.Murfitt@malbank.cheshire.sch.uk, if you have any problems, worries or just need to talk something through.

Leaver's Service

A reminder that our Leaver's Service will be held in Church on Tuesday at 9.30am. If you are able to help to accompany the children walking to and from Church for the Service, please contact Miss Cooper or Mrs Howard in the School Office. We look forward to sharing this special service with you.

Audlem Parish Council Summer Competition

As part of the Neighbourhood Planning process, Audlem Parish Council is running a summer competition for younger residents in the village. They would like children to tell them how they would like Audlem to look in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years time.

Entries can be art (painting/drawing/collage) or written in verse or prose (no more than 200 words). There are several age groups including 5 years old and below and 11 years old and below (with ages based on age as of 31 August 2014).

I know children in school will have a wonderful array of ideas for this and I hope they are able to find time to enter this special competition over the summer holidays. Please look out for further information about this competition in the Village Newsletter and on Audlem Online.

Finally

As we reach the end of another busy and successful year at Audlem St James, I would like to thank you all for your continued support of our wonderful school.

Once again, children, staff and Governors have worked tremendously hard this year to make it the best it can be for all of our children. We should all feel very proud of the journey our school continues to make and excited about the bright future ahead.

Parents and Carer's feedback and input to avenues of communication such as our Parent Forum and our surveys, have been invaluable and we will continue to seek your views and opinions throughout next year as we further enhance and develop the provision within school.

I wish you and your families a very happy, healthy and (hopefully) sunny summer and look forward to working with you and your children next year.
