Nantwich & South Cheshire Show is set to smash yet more records
The biggest one-day show in Britain returns at the end of this month and organisers are getting ready to break more records than ever before.
Nantwich & South Cheshire Show has long established itself as one of the key events in the agricultural calendar and returns on Wednesday, July 27th.
More than 32,000 people flocked to Dorfold Park last year and show secretary Adrian Lawrence is hoping to welcome another huge influx of visitors this time around.
"It is now a colossal 70,000 sq ft, which makes it the biggest temporary structure in Britain. It is ready to house more than 3,300 cheeses from around 25 countries – more than ever before. This year, we are getting entries from places as diverse as Lithuania and Australia.
"The growth of the show has been phenomenal and we have more than 15 new companies wanting to exhibit their cheese. It seems the word is spreading far and wide."
More than 600 cattle were on show at last year's event, with entries already looking certain to exceed that.
Mr Lawrence added: "We have pulled all the stops to get the Brown Swiss Cattle Society to our show once again and we are delighted to have them. It always proves popular with our visitors."
The Mornflake Food Hall goes from strength to strength with more bookings and a greater diversity than ever, whilst the Cheshire East Pavilion continues to host the Home Produce Arts & Crafts as well as the honey, horticultural and floral art sections.
The sheep section welcomes a number of new breeds for 2011 and will continue to offer lively sheering demonstrations, which are popular with young and old.
Star celebrity chefs James Martin and Gino D'Acampo will also be on hand to meet visitors and sign autographs at the show, which runs from 8am-8pm.
There are 12 hours of continuous ring displays, which will include the spectacular Big Pete's Monster Trucks and brand new Grim Reaper monster truck.
Advance tickets are £13 (adults), £9 (senior citizens) £4 (juniors), £35 (family). Call 01270 537359 to order, entrance will be dearer on the day.
