A mystery and a murder

A remarkable document has come to light in the Audlem History Society Records.

It shows a couple of carvings apparently found on a beam in an old house in Hankelow. The subject suggests association with the notorious trial and double execution of John Lomas and Edith Morrey in 1812 and 1813 (Edith had to wait for the birth of a baby she was expecting before she was executed).

The full, if somewhat floury, description of the crime and trial can be read here.

Possibly a better account can be seen here.

The inquest was held at the White Lion in Hankelow.

So does anyone know where these carvings are and if they still exist?
