Nantwich Museum is looking for volunteers and members to continue the work of this important local amenity.

The museum was established in 1980 and is housed in the original library building in Pillory Street.

It has around 28,000 visitors a year and admission is free. It is an independent charitable trust run by a Board of Management (including trustees elected by members) for the benefit of the local community and staffed mainly by volunteers.

Supported by the members, the museum is financed by donations, sponsorship, commercial activities and various grants.

There a series of permanent exhibitions relating to the history of the town along with two temporary exhibition spaces – the Millennium Gallery used for larger displays including artwork and photography and the smaller Community Gallery, normally used by local community groups.

There is a regular talks programme usually linked to the exhibitions or events such as the battle of Nantwich.

Various activities are arranged for children during school holidays and school visits are welcomed.

Recent developments include a monthly dementia session where anyone living with dementia can meet in an informal setting. There is usually a theme for the meeting and objects are handled and discussed.

You can visit the museum's website by clicking here where you can support the museum on-line if you wish.

Membership and Volunteering

Membership forms are available at the museum for anyone who would like to become one – it's £20 for individual annual membership and £30 for family annual membership. That can be boosted at no cost to you by completing the Gift Aid form on the back.

If you interested in volunteering, please contact the museum for further information about current opportunities. The museum would love to hear from anyone but particularly those with specific skills around property maintenance, office skills, fund raising etc. Please call 01270 627104.
