'Morris' the cat

AudlemOnline received this message from the Denning family after the loss of their cat, "Morris" recently – we publish it in full because it seems to convey what the community here in Audlem is all about, in spite of its sad conclusion.

At a time when there is so much anxiety and concern about national and international events it is important to recognise the real value of those many acts of kindness we see by anonymous strangers and those all around us in our local community.

We would therefore be pleased if you could convey our thanks to the AudlemOnline team for their help in establishing the whereabouts of our much loved cat 'Morris' who went missing late last weekend. We are also immensely grateful to all those involved in getting him to a place of safety after he was spotted in difficulties on the Whitchurch Road in the early hours of Sunday – those kind souls who contacted veterinary help, the excellent support and care by Leonard Brothers Veterinary Centre in Whitchurch and the sensitive way that out own distress was handled by their staff when we visited the Veterinary Centre.

It seems clear now there hadn't been any vehicles involved but that a pre-existing, undiagnosed and untreatable brain condition had finally taken it's toll. Sadly the best course course of action was to put him to rest when we had said our goodbyes.
