Linda Hall has contacted us about yesterday's buzzards story. She writes: "I was very interested to read the report about the Buzzards seen in the Village. They have been flying over Swanbach Mill for at least five years and are often seen sitting in the old tree by the mill pond. The crows and magpies will mob them given the chance to try and get them to go away. Though they do swoop over the lawn, we have never seen them catching songbirds (unlike the hawks). They seem to find their food in the fields opposite towards the River Weaver.

Our neighbour Andrew Smith, whose family have lived in the area for a very long time, (his Uncle, Godfrey Smith was the last miller at Swanbach Mill when it ceased milling in 1918) has commented that the buzzards were originally from Delamere Forest and have migrated south to Audlem and are now to be seen here all year round. Even the birds know what a wonderful place Audlem is to live but we haven't seen them in the refurbished Combermere yet!

It is lovely to see them and hear their mewing cries, especially when they have a fledgling with them.
