Next Saturday's Mid-ARS walk is led by Jeanette Shenton, leaving Audlem Car Park at 9.00am.

Jeanette writes:- The walk starts at Hanchurch Hills Picnic Site., Hanchurch Hills, Hanchurch, Stoke On Trent, Staffs ST4 8SN, where there is free parking but no toilet facilities.

It is a circular 7 mile walk that is mostly undulating with a few small climbs.

There are no stiles and the path is mainly through forest and across farm land, passing along lanes through the villages of Beech and Swynnerton. Passing through open landscape the walk reveals views across to Shropshire and The Welsh Hills.

The most dominant feature of the walk is the Grade 2 listed Italianate yellow and red brick water works at Hatton and the water towers at Hanchurch and Swynnerton.

Directions from Audlem:
From Woore turn right on to the A51 in the direction of Swynnerton.
Turn left off the A51 at Stableford Bridge, onto Dog Lane, signposted to Hanchurch.
Continue along Dog lane for approx 1.5 miles to Hanchurch Hills Picnic site on your right.
Turn right into the picnic site and follow the bumpy road for approx 300 yards and park near the water tower.

All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
