There was a good turn out for Thursday afternoon's meeting to discuss the McCarthy & Stone planning application and Councillors received good feedback from those who attended.

See here for the original article on this topic.

The points raised by the Parish Council and by individual residents included

  • The distance to the village centre shops was considerably further than what McCarthy & Stone described as a "few minutes walk" especially for the older residents expected to live in the properties.
  • Although the parking allocation has been increased to one per property, in practice most such households would have two cars.
  • No consideration has been given to the effect on Medical Services.

At the end of the meeting a vote was taken – 24 of those present voted for rejection of the application, with nobody voting for its acceptance.

Some residents had said they were unable to be there due to work or other commitments.

To give them an opportunity to air their views there will be an extended public forum at next Monday's Parish Council meeting in the Methodist Rooms. The meeting will start 30 minutes earlier at 7pm to allow 45 minutes for this topic.

During the main part of the meeting Councillors will vote on whether to support or object to the planning application.

Planning proposal

The planning proposal submitted by McCarthy & Stone is 17/0339N and details can be seen by clicking here.
