Councillor Dorothy Flude, Mayor of Cheshire East, paid a visit to Hankelow Day Club on Tuesday this week where she received a warm welcome from members and representatives of ADCA and Hankelow Chapel.
She gave a very illuminating talk on her experiences of being Mayor and what the duties involve, as well as on her work in health and social care services. She heard about the work of ADCA in providing activity and support to older people and stressed the importance of combatting social isolation.
She also shared her great interest in local history, particular of local people's involvement in the two World Wars and the importance of sharing and writing down people's memories for future generations.
The Mayor then chatted to everyone over tea and cakes before being whisked away in her new Bentley before anyone could try to get a lift home in it!
