Watch match of the day on BBC this morning . My team, Liverpool waking at last from their seemed cocoon of poor performance.

Snowdrops and daffodils here now plus bright yellow crocus flowers -- and they lift one's heart as they trumpet the coming Spring season . A lovely time of year as the garden shakes off its sloth of winter days . The first daffodils I see each year are those planted way back in 2003 by John Kennerley . When I was chair of ADAS . They bloom each year at the base of the welcome to Buerton Road signs -- and the snowdrops at the base of the big lime tree, planted in the Cemetery back in 1810 .

A glorious sign , with a garden of greyness waking to longer days and warm sunshine. Many midges rising and falling as they enjoy the sun on their backs .

Caught a piece on that war time fighter / bomber plane, the De Havilland Mosquito .

Never ever realised that this was a wooden fuselaged plane. And at the time one of the fastest planes in the world topping 300 mph . Amazing to think of that , and totally overshadowed by the Spitfire and its Merlin engines .

Some 8000 were built with some made in Australia and `Canada.

Imagine flying low at that sort of warplane -- fuselage made of wood. Undercarriage was a slight problem to retract as it was operated with bungee cords !

Glued and screwed together , and when in the far east , it suffered from monsoon rains as the wood soaked up the rains . And glue could melt in the heat of Asia .

Fantastic to read of it. About 30 are still able to fly but none in the UK . Some enthusiasts are setting to try to build one here now.

Amazing.

Football

Again we play away in Winsford . Versus Broadhurst FC team .Based in Northwich

but pitch is at Knights Grange in Winsford . They too are at the bottom of the division like ourselves but do have 1 point from an early draw.

Pitch reasonable given the time of year .

Kick off At 1100.. management team have just the bare bones in terms of players declaring fir the game. The 11 plus 2 subs .

Referee is Kevin Kelly

Usual frantic play as the rush of play gets the player's hearts begin to beat fast as they rush to get all muscles going. None of the forecasted winds of the north of our country. Broadhurst , we hear , are facing an indeterminate future . Mr Broadhurst , member of a well known bakery family in Northwick will I know do his level best to ensure that they do not go under. The team have been going for nearly 100 years with the Broadhurst company sponsoring all those years . Must the longest going team in all the Cheshire leagues.

Injury to Sam Mason after 10 minutes and then another as Ben Walker was taken down. No subs so had to play with just 9 fir players.

We scored and also missed a penalty .

Result 2-1 to Broadhurst . Audlem scorer was  Nick Gregory

We still hunt for our first victory of the season !

And from my standpoint on the imagined sidelines , given my continued incapacitation, the prospect of a victory in this league looks ever further away.

Sad to have to report this but, hey ho. We still have plenty of heart and a desire to win.

Next match is Lions F C away . Crewe team and a rearranged game
