It was Maths Week in school last week with each class exploring the wonders of maths including links with this year's Olympics through World Record investigations and use of Maths of the Day for active, outdoor maths and PE.

Mrs Hayward, our school cook, has been working with each class showing children how she uses maths to plan, budget and weigh and measure all of our delicious school meals.

Mrs Howard, from our school office, has visited Key Stage 2 children and thrilled them with examples of how she used maths in her previous role as a forensic scientist!

Some classes have also linked maths to our work on Fairtrade Fortnight and our Wonderful Worship Leads (Rai Baxter, Annie Lowe, Emma Mansell, Ciara Lloyd Beeston, Harrison Saunders and David Cottrell) worked with our Global Ambassadors (Libby Rayne, Tessa Sullivan, Thomas Winter, Maisy Goodwin and Lilia Crowley), Miss Danha and Mrs Hayward in our school kitchen on Tuesday to organise a wonderful Fairtrade 'Big Breakfast' as part of this.

It was a wonderful event with all children in school sampling Fairtrade fruit platters and smoothies prepared by Mrs Hayward whilst reflecting on key Fairtrade messages shared by our Global Ambassadors.

Our Wonderful Worship leads also led our worship on Monday. They shared the story of the Feeding of 5000 by acting out their own version of the story. The children chose this story to share to link to Fairtrade Fortnight and the work our Global Ambassadors and Wonderful Worship Leads have promoted linked to this across school.

Pearl class shared a fun filled class assembly with their parents on Tuesday morning – they shared their work on Inventors and Inventions with the theme of 'Making a Difference' – they certainly made a difference to their audience by sharing their smiles, enthusiasm and talents so well!

Rita Rowley in Year 2 attended a special a reception at Chester Cathedral with Mrs Richardson and one of our Governors, Mrs Meadows, on Tuesday afternoon after being commended for her poetry entry in The Canon Chancellor's Award. Her poem will be on display in the cathedral and it is included in a poetry booklet displayed on the Cathedral's website.

As part of the visit, Rita had the opportunity to add lego bricks to their amazing lego replica of Chester Cathedral, which is also on display for all to see.

We celebrated World Book Day by experiencing Shakespeare in each class on Thursday ahead of our Shakespeare Week in school later this term.

Thursday's open afternoon and evening gave parents and carers an opportunity to reflect with the children on the progress they have all made as well as the key next steps in their learning targets. It was lovely to see so many conversations reflecting on learning and celebrating the successes that can be seen in the children's work.

Mrs Stoker, Mrs McKee, Mrs Kay and all of our Year 3 children travelled to Chester Cathedral on Friday morning to represent school at the Chester 'Big Sing' event. The children have been working hard to learn all of the songs for this special mass choir service and I know they will do a wonderful job! We hope to share one or two of their songs with you all at our Easter Service later this term – they are wonderful!

Four girls from Key Stage 2, Holly Gregory, Emma Mansell, Ciara Lloyd Beeston and Christina Bugeja are joining Mrs Tailor at the Women's World Day of Prayer Service at Audlem Methodist Church on Friday afternoon. The girls will be sharing readings and prayers to celebrate this special international day of prayer.

This week's Praise Book children are:
Mrs Hayward's Class – Katy Deaville
Miss Danha's Class – Eva Tilley
Mrs Richardson's and Mr Morrey's Class – Oliver Tew-Goodwin Mrs Stoker's Class – Finlay Bradbury Smith
Mr Perry's Class – Marleigh Matravers
Mrs Bird's Class – Max Youle
Congratulations to you all!

Easter Service

A reminder that our Easter Service will be held in Church on Monday 21st March at 9.30am. If you are able to help to accompany the children walking to and from Church for the Service, please contact Mrs Howard or Mrs Taylor in the School Office.

Build Work Update

As many of your will have seen, our extension for additional storage and space in the hall is taking shape. We hope to have all of the internal hall works completed over the Easter break and look forward to sharing the results of this project with you early in the new term.

Due to the preparation works for the internal hall works the hall will be stripped and cleared in the week prior to the Easter break – this will mean the hall will not look at its best for our Easter Fair, however I am confident the end result will be well worth the wait! Thank you for your patience during these works.
