Local schoolgirl Emily Flattery is raising funds to undertake the expedition of a lifetime to help poorer communities in southern Peru.

The project Emily hopes to assist in is run by Camps International who work around the globe, providing young people with the opportunity to change the lives of those in rural and deprived areas of the world. Emily will be based in three different locations including Lake Titicaca which is one of the poorest areas in Peru, and will be taking part in a range of group projects including building a school and improving facilities in the local area.

Some of the tasks involved in these projects, range from laying foundations and mixing cement to planting crops and landscaping. All the help the young participants can give will in turn benefit the community and improve the general standard of living in the area. In order to take part in the expedition Emily must raise funds to cover all her travel and living costs.

She has been working hard by babysitting, dog walking and a number of other part time jobs as well as studying for her forthcoming GCSE's.

Overwater Marina has now become the first company to sponsor her and in order to make her trip a reality she needs more.

if you would like to sponsor Emily too you can do so by contacting her via her father Peter on 07811 605976
