Butterfly wrote on Chatbox just after midnight: "This evening about 7.30pm, two young boys knocked on my door and asked me if I had lost any chickens?

I replied "No, I don't keep chickens" and suggested they try next door. The neighbours accounted for their own eight birds.

After scrambling around in the dark, slipping in to the brook, managed to catch three birds, and my neighbour caught one.

I saw a man walking down Salford earlier in the Evening, it was dark and couldn't see his face, he appeared to be carrying a box?

Has anyone lost any birds? Or did this man dump them?

They are safe and happy in my stable until I find their owner or re home them. I don't have the space for them to live in my garden."

Can anyone help? And by the way, for all our thousands of readers who don't live locally, this Salford is a beautiful Conservation area on the eastern side of Audlem, not the Salford home of the Media Centre, the BBC and ITV next to Manchester.

It's in the distance on the left beyond the church in our photo.

Update: Chris Lewis says "I can rehome if necessary as long as they are not obviously diseased as they will be added to mine."

If Butterfly will send us a contact number, we will pass it on to Chris.
