The long-winded process of getting an approved Local Plan for East Cheshire, which can then be used to help to stave off the worst excesses of the developers, reaches another stage of public consultation.

The Cheshire East Local Plan Strategy sets out the Council's spatial policy framework for delivering sustainable economic growth and represents the strategy the Council wishes to adopt to deliver a vibrant sustainable community and for the management of development in Cheshire East up to 2030.

Having considered the issues raised through the Examination process, the Inspector issued his views on the further modifications needed to the LPS on 13th December 2016. Representations are now invited on Proposed Main Modifications to the Cheshire East Local Plan Strategy – Proposed Changes (March 2016 Version). Representations should relate specifically to the legal compliance and soundness of the Proposed Main Modifications only. Representations made previously have been taken into account by the Inspector and should not be repeated. Representations on the absence of any modifications will not be considered.

The Inspector will consider all duly-made representations before publishing his final report into the legal compliance and soundness of the Cheshire East Local Plan Strategy.

The main modifications document can be read here, and you can also make representations.

The consultation ends on Monday, 20th March.
