The retired business and professional members of Audlem Probus Club are about to embark on a roller-coaster trip into a world of weaponry and chemical warfare, while rubbing shoulders with royalty and aristocracy along the way.
It promises to be a mixture of insights into the worlds of James Bond and Downtown Abbey. Thankfully without real-life risk!
Next Thursday's (June 12) guest speaker, Ron Hutchinson, was born in Manchester, but raised in Cheshire. He served with an Army airborne unit, serving in Northern Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, Ehtiopia and Germany.
Later, as chauffeur to Viscount Leverhulme, Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, for many years, he even combined his working life in the high-society circles of royals and aristocrats with roles in the Territorial Army, training officer cadets.
Ron clearly cannot relinquish his need for out-of-the-ordinary adventure and excitement. In 2000 he became a fundraiser with Claire House Children's Hospice, organising and leading challenging expeditions to such iconic places as Everest, Kilimnjaro, the Canadian Rockies, the Grand Canyon and Borneo, among others. In 2007, he was voted 'Fundraiser of the Year'.
Join us to look back at Ron's adventure-filled
"Life Through a Rear-view Mirror".
