At last, we've had personal contact with Moya Greene, chief executive of the Royal Mail. We wrote to her in January and February about cards and letters taking over two months to be delivered over the December 2010 – January 2011 period. She says:

A brief reminder that tomorrow, 2nd April, is the last posting day for Christmas when we can guarantee that your cards and presents will reach their destination before 25th December 2011 – as long as you use a First Class stamp. We regret that for those mean enough to try using a Second Class stamp, your opportunity has already passed for this year.
Following a number of isolated incidents at the Warrington Sorting Office involving fewer than thirty million items of Christmas mail, we are delighted to announce that all items of 2010 mail have now been delivered safely, or have been officially declared lost by a third party, thus guaranteeing my 2010 Christmas delivery bonus.
Please help me and my team to ensure there are fewer disappointed mail users this year by posting all your Christmas mail by tomorrow as this will ensure that deliveries, and my 2011 bonus, should be delivered in timely fashion this year.
