Keeping active

Audlem is officially an active place to live with its newly formed running club, ramblers society, football teams, gym facilities and the numerous classes offered throughout the week.

Keeping active is important for our overall well-being but there is a line to tread between sport that brings health benefits and sport that leads to injury.

For those who heed the warning signs their body gives them, Physiotherapy is familiar to many people who participate in sport on a regular basis, occasionally finding themselves injured and in need of some specialist attention to help them healthily get their activities back on track. Did you know that part of physiotherapy includes advising people on how to get the most out of their activities and function at an optimal level with the aim of preventing as well as treating injury?

For example, people who train for marathons need not just focus on the importance of having strong legs but also work on their 'core strength' to help them run efficiently. This holistic approach to physical health can help identify that the painful niggle in our ankle may actually be a symptom of a problem that originates elsewhere in the body. Experienced physiotherapists who focus on biomechanics (the body's movement) can help unravel those aches and pains that you may just have come to live with. With an assessment of posture and movement, physiotherapy can identify those areas of weakness in terms of stability, mobility and strength.

Audlem has its own 'Audlem Physiotherapy Clinic' led by Philippa Butler. Philippa has over 30 years of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, is HCPC & CSP registered and accepts private patients. Philippa is located in Audlem Medical Practice and the Public Hall Annexe. Speak to Philippa to see if Physiotherapy might benefit you. She can be contacted on 07854270796.
