Audlem WI – A Jolly Musical Evening
You never realise how boring your life is until someone asks what you like to do for fun!
WI ladies are not lazy, they are just in energy saving mode, as with their great collective power comes a huge electricity bill, however, the members of Audlem WI are mindful of the fact that they should share their good luck and prosperity by opening their doors to others less fortunate, enabling them to participate in the exuberance of our monthly meetings.
Fortunately, we have been able to acquire, at great expense, the services of 'The Back Row' singers and they will be performing for all on Thursday July 7th at 7.30 pm in the Scout and Guide Hall for the ridiculously low price of £4.50 and- wait for it- a glass of Prosecco will be included!
If you have never been to an Audlem WI Open Meeting before, let me tell you, we don't skimp on the size of our glasses as our eyes can't focus on anything less than 250 ml.
Back Row are renowned for their close-harmony singing of old and new favourites, humorous songs (not forgetting the props!) and more. They play music from many countries using hurdy-gurdies, fiddles, recorders, crumhorns, guitars and instruments you may never have seen in your life before!
.
Our President, Lin Nicholas, that doyenne of our WI group, has promised a short period of business, followed by a welcome speech that she has purloined from Donald Trump, as Hilary Clinton was too busy with her personal email accounts!
Our raffle lady extraordinaire, Pat Smith, has assured us that their will be a 'Grand Raffle' to complete a perfect evening for all. She never lets us down.
It is completely understandable that there will be a rush for tickets, which have been printed in a limited edition of 50, so expect to see them on eBay after the event, and the honour of selling them has been bestowed upon Judy, from Williams Newsagents, who has already ordered reinforcement bouncers- should they be required- to control the stampeding queues.
Judy has learnt that you don't close a sale, you open a relationship and if you want to build a long-term, successful enterprise you will get all you want in life if you help other people to get what they want, as people like to buy things they need from people they like.
Thank you Judy, your constant willingness to sell tickets for local events is much appreciated and we cannot understand why you have been left off the Queens Birthday Honours list yet again! Yet another Audlem unsung hero(ine.)
In the event of any problems getting tickets, please contact Lin Nicholas on 01270 812400. She has her own speedy railway delivery service, so you can be guaranteed a swift response!
See you all on Thursday July 7th at 7.30pm.
