Many of our members will remember John Cooke (or Cookie as he was affectionally known by his many friends) and I was very sorry to hear of his recent death at the grand old age of 89. He had, unfortunately, been unwell for several years.
Cookie was an early member of ARS, joining us on many walks and he undertook four long distance paths with a few other members, he also regularly joined us on our mini breaks and despite being older than many of us was as strong as an ox.
Cookie was also a keen golfer and served as Club Captain for a year and President for two years at Whitchurch Hill Valley.
His funeral is at St. James' on the 15th of September at 11.30 am if you feel you would like to attend.
