If you have noticed that your partner has been checking the football scores at the dinner table, sharing a joke on Facebook with friends half the way across the world or simply reading vital local news or the Chatbox on AudlemOnline, a new service opening today may be of interest.

More and more of us are becoming addicted to social networks, so much so that we are losing the art of conversation and quiet reflection. Experts locally say that AudlemOnline's adoption of Twitter and Facebook feeds in recent months has added significantly to the pressure.

This year, websites and phone manufacturers also have more and more ways – buzzes, shakes, pokes and vibrates – to interrupt your train of thought.

As a result, an internet addiction clinic will start today in Audlem Public Hall at 12.00noon where you can relearn the art of conversation without interruption, hesitation or deviation. Mobile phones, tablets and laptops will not be admitted and wi-fi has been switched off.

The course will last initially for a matter of minutes to avoid excessive stress but sessions will build up to half an hour or more as participants learn to leave their electronic dependence behind for longer periods.

For the more seriously addicted who are not yet prepared to enter a wi-fi free zone, you can learn more about this Audlem-based course on-line by clicking here.
