Nurse Heroes celebrated on International Nurses Day

This year Morris Care http://www.morriscare.co.uk decided to give their care home Nursing Heroes a heartfelt and really personal thank you on International Nurses Day in the form of hand-picked and packed appreciation gift boxes, filled with treats to surprise and delight. "A small gesture to represent a massive thank you" as ChiefExecutive Lucy Holl commented today, Wednesday 12th May.

The boxes were hand delivered to Morris Care's six nursing homes across Shropshire and Audlem in Cheshire today to honour the dedication and hard work of their amazing nurses and nurse assistants, particularly after the intense year the care sector has endured. The gift boxes included items ranging from locally created lemon verbena hand cream to a large bar of the nation's favourite chocolate wrapped with a personal thank you, tea bags for a welcome break and to relax at home... some wild flower seeds and even a pair of fun socks.

Across the world, the valued contribution of Nurses is celebrated annually on 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth in 1820. In 2021, the theme for the internationally celebrated, annual event is 'Nurses: A Voice to Lead — A vision for future healthcare'. The campaign focusses on innovations in nursing and how this promises to shape the future of healthcare.#

Lucy Holl added: It's been a year like no other for our nurses. They have led the way in keeping our residents safe though the pandemic, caring compassionately and becoming their extended family while they lived through lockdown. Not only that, they have embraced the latest technology we have introduced, from electronic health records to comprehensive new care home management software.
