Cheshire Constabulary is launching a force wide recruitment drive for more people to become Police Community Support Officers.

PCSOs work at the heart of Neighbourhood Policing Teams, providing a visible and reassuring presence on the streets, working with the community to help tackle anti-social behaviour.

At present, Cheshire Constabulary employs 200 PCSOs and the search is underway for more as Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer's honours his pledge to 'enhance front line policing'.

John Dwyer said: "I am delighted that we are able to recruit new staff. Feedback that I have received from the public tells me that that they really value the contribution that PCSOs make to neighbourhood policing.

"I think that people now understand the difference between Police Community Support Officers and police officers and it is their ability to spend time out and about on the streets engaging with the community and solving local problems that has a huge impact on people's feelings of safety.

"I encourage people from all of Cheshire's diverse communities to apply for the role."
The campaign follows closely on the heels of a drive to recruit more volunteer Special Constables to the Constabulary."

Applications open on Monday 9th of December and anyone interested in becoming a PCSO should go to the jobs page for more information.
