Subject: Highway Issues Requiring Attention – Audlem Ward

Dear Matt

I attach photograph evidence of three highway issues in Audlem Ward, taken on Tuesday 20/7/2021.

1)Flooding due to blocked gulleys at this Swanbach bridge have compromised safety since Autumn 2019. I am concerned that the gulley is clearly blocked but not tagged as such in view of the current 'attendance of all CE gulleys'.

2)Speeding in Swanbach is an issue, please can you advise if CE will fund the 40 mph sign repair/replacement forthwith.

3)The expanse of grass between the hedgerow and highway on the road from Coole lane to the Weaver Bridge, provides a safe haven for pedestrians. A cone has alerted this issue for many months with no action. The cone is now missing and this is a serious hazard.

Many thanks for your help

This was followed by a further email to Cheshire East below pointing out funds should be available to correct such dangers.

Dear All

I visited Swanbach on Tuesday morning, attempted to walk to the site hoping that PPE would keep me safe on this narrow stretch of road and had to abandon at Heywood Lane to protect myself.

Suffice to say the only difference since the picture in May 2021 is that they are covered by undergrowth providing no warning to motorists whatsoever.

The stretch of the A529 between Audlem and Market Drayton is recognised by government as dangerous and has accordingly benefitted from Safer Roads Funding prior to 2020; associated works by Shropshire Council are long since completed.

I would be grateful is this matter could be attended to as a matter of urgency as Andrea kindly pledged in May this year.

Many thanks

Rachel
